Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

Last week, I showed photos of my grandmother in the side yard of her grandmother's home.  This week here are 2 more photos of my grandmother in front of the house.  There used to be a wrap around porch, that they have since removed.

This photo is from 1938 when my grandmother was around 9yrs old.  She is on the porch with her Nana, but not sure who the 2 gentlemen in the photo are.  I think they may be her uncles.

This is my grandmother at at 16.  It's wild to see a horse on the front lawn....especially seeing what the house looks like today.  (There are photos of the house in a post I wrote about Niagara On The Lake.)

Wordful Wednesday - Birthday Owl

I was contacted by a person asking me to make a girly owl photo holder for her daughter's 1st birthday.   She also asked me to make a bow center to match it.

Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

When my grandmother came and visited a couple months ago, I showed her my blog books.  She LOVED looking through them.  She took a couple books with her when she went to dinner with her brothers & sisters to show them.

When we were looking through them, we came upon the post about Niagara on the Lake.  In the post I had written about remembering seeing a photo of my grandmother with chickens in the side yard of her grandmother's home.

A few weeks later photos arrived in the mail.

This is my grandmother in 1929 (or 1928) in her Nana's side yard.
I ended up scanning in both sides of all the photos.  Just so I don't forget the info that is written on them and because my grandmother's handwriting is on them.
I will share the rest next week.

Aloha Friday #38

This weeks question is:

Have you ever eaten raw potatoes?

As a child I can remember my mother cutting potatoes in the kitchen and running in and asking if I could have a piece.  She would oblige, first by putting some salt on it for us.  When Jeff and I were dating he would do the same thing when I cut potatoes.  Turns out he did the same thing as a child growing up.  My children now do the same thing.  It makes me smile every time they run into the kitchen and ask me for some of the raw potato.

Funny thing was, I thought most people had done this.  I mentioned it last year at scrap and spa that my kids LOVE raw potato....the weird looks I got from everyone was hilarious.  Evidently, my husband & I are strange.

Wordful Wednesday - Darien Lake

I am missing Darien Lake.  Which is pretty weird considering I don't ride the rides.  You would NEVER catch me on this ride.  My son on the other hand is was super excited he could ride it.  He is on it in this shot.

Can't wait until next year.

Beautiful Weather

This past week the weather was beautiful here in Western NY.  My huge tree is finally loosing it's leaves.  Lily has been wanting to jump in leaves and finally it was dry long enough to rake them into a pile and have fun.
The kids had a ball.
I have to remember moments like these, when they are fighting and yelling at one another (which has been alot lately)...

On my clay table...

The past month I have been one crafty bow center creating machine...

Here are some of the custom bow centers I have made....most of these shots are from before they were baked.  So please excuse the bad lighting, my old cookie sheet & tile.  The critters now have eyes, some have mouths and the reindeer head has red glitter on his nose.  A bunch of them are Made to Match Gymboree Lines (new and old).
I have also made all of the princesses into bow centers....

Sunday Citar

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning.  But for children play is serious learning.  Play is really the work of childhood."  ~ Fred Rogers
This afternoon, Lily came up to tell me to come and look at her "trophies" she made in the basement.  So I asked her if I should take a photo of her masterpiece.  She was so excited that I was going to come and take a photo of them.
Do you see them?
She put beads on each of the lego dots and called them "trophies".  Typically she puts 2 beads together and calls them little trophies.
She was proud of her masterpiece.
I guess they were for sale....she told daddy they were $3.00.  He paid her $1.00 for one.  =)

Thank you for stopping by Sunday Citar! This blog quote meme was created by Fresh Mommy. You can stop by her blog to see the quotes and photos that she and everyone else is loving right now.
