Wordless Wednesday-Bunny Love

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!!
{She measures just over 4 inches tall.  I made her for Vivian's bunny swap and mailed her to my partner, April, a week ago.  I received my sweet bunny from April and love her.  Lily has already decided that it is hers and belongs in her room.}

Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

I had a great time last weekend at scrap & spa!  This was the 7th time we have gone.  I didn't get enough sleep & my face hurts from laughing too much.  Totally worth it.  I love my new CM digital scrapbooking software.  I didn't get as much done as I have in the past, but that is ok.  I can't wait until next year!

Onto some old photos...
Feb 20-22, 2004

Please excuse the quality of these.  I scanned the whole page this morning (as much as my scanner would scan of my 12x12 page) and forgot to take off my page protector on the second one.  Anyway...these were taken the first year we went.  The first 4yrs we went to an Indian Reservation in Canada.  We scrapbooked in the basement of the spa and slept in the hotel that you see in the second batch of photos.  Ahhh...the time when our money went soooo far over in Canada and when the borders were not a pain in the butt to cross.  It cost us $225 Canadian (with the conversion it cost me about $115 American) and that included a 30min spa service, 2 nights hotel stay & all my meals.

Kristybee Photo Giveaway

I found Kristy's shop last year and fell in LOVE with her photography! Her photos are so light and airy. A couple weeks ago I won one of her photos.

I picked this one and have plans to put it in my bedroom.  (I am working on redoing my bedroom)

Here is a little about the photographer behind these beautiful photos...1. Tell us a little about yourself...
I like to describe myself as a jeans, white tee-shirt, flip flops kind of girl. I live for summer, the beach, bright sunny days. I love vintage cameras and everything French. I am the mom of two beautiful daughters and I have a wonderful husband.

2. How long have you been doing this?
You could say I have been into photography most of my life, but only in the past couple of years has it become something I can make money doing. My camera comes everywhere with me..even if I am dropping the kids off at school or going to the grocery store. You never know when you can become inspired.

3.Who/What inspires you?

I am inspired by people.. my family, my friends, nature. Little things, like the way the light hits my coffee cup in the morning.

4.What's your favorite piece?

Wow..that is a great question. Honestly..my favorite piece is whatever I am working on at the moment. Most of my favorite shots are of my kids at the beach or my husband just sitting having his coffee. Quiet moments like that.

5. What advice do you have for a beginner?
It may sound cliche', but take pictures of what you love. Follow your heart and don't worry about rules. Plus...use natural light as much as possible..you will never be disappointed!

6. Where can we find you?

Aloha Friday #20

http://islandlife808.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/aloha-banner.jpg
Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your comment below and link in Kailani’s blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

This weeks question is:
Do you call the store carts Shopping Carts or Buggies?  Do return them to the corals in the store parking lots?

We call them Shopping Carts here.  As for returning them to the corals, it depends on the day and situation.

Dear So and So... wk8

It's that time again....

Dear sickness that has invaded my friend, Sharon's house,
We have a fantastic weekend planned and you are ruining it.  No one invited you!
Get out and do not come back!!
Armed with a has-mat suit, Sharon's Friend - (not telling you where I live)

Dear self,
Make sure you have a great time this weekend at scrap & spa!!  Stay up late and enjoy going pee by yourself.  Remember it goes by fast and it is back to reality on Sunday.
Bouncing off the walls in anticipation, melanie

Dear Jeff,
I missed you last weekend.  I am not fond of sleeping by myself...but, that doesn't mean I am staying home this weekend.  Nice try.  Have a great time with the kids.
*waving byebye*, your loving wife

Dear Ian's school,
OK, enough already.  We have had enough fundraisers!!  This year so far we have sold candles, chocolate, coupon books, cookie dough and now you are doing the jump rope for heart fundraiser.  Not to mention the 2 book fairs.  ENOUGH ALREADY!!  While I think raising money is for a good cause is a good thing, this has gotten out of hand.
Putting foot down, Ian's mommy

Dear kids,
Please be good for daddy.  That means Ian don't be spazzy and Lily don't be sassy.  Have a great time with him.  Mommy will miss you.
Love, mommy

Dear mommy,
Don't tell Ian & Lily not to act like that.  They should be themselves so Jeff gets the full experience.
*snickering*, self

Dear Blog Readers Friends,
Thank you so much for reading my blog!  I covet each and every one of you & your comments.  Comments are like blogger's crack.  I love hearing from you.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend, Melanie

Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

February 1981
7rs old
I am sitting on my father's lap and my little sister (4yrs old in this shot) is on my mom's lap.  Look at how young my parents look!  In this photo my mom was 27 and my dad was 29.  They were very young parents.  When my mom was my age, she had a 16 & 13 year old.  I have to smile at this photo...my dad has lots of hair in it...not so much now.

I have to say thank you to my parents for giving my sister & I the love of taking photos.  I truly enjoy looking back through these old photos my parents took.  Now my sister and I enjoy taking photos of  our own families.  My husband had the opposite experience growing up.  His parents did not own a camera.  While my parents have albums upon albums of old photos to go through...I have a handful of old photos of my husband as a child I got from his grandmother (who passed away a few years ago).
