A Farm Adventure...

Last Sunday was my anniversary.  We decided to celebrate it as a family and find something cheap & that would work well for our weight loss.  (BTW...I have lost 12.8lbs total as of this week.)  We ended up going to Becker Farms.  They were supposed to be having a Raspberry Festival...at least that is what it stated on their website.  When we got to the farm there was nothing that had to do with a Raspberry Festival going on.  We hadn't been to Becker Farms in almost 2 years (the last time we went, Lily was unsteady on her feet and did a face plant.)

Any who, when we got there the kids were very excited to check out the animals. 

The animals were looking for food.  (Lily is to Jeff's left in the photo below.)

So that was fun, but as soon as we used the 4 quarters I grabbed from the car to feed the animals the kids were complaining.  They would have filled that machine with money and kept feeding the animals.  The animals would have been happy to be fed all day...goats eat like pigs.  Me not wanting to put anymore money into the machine = ungrateful kids.  Ungrateful kids = Miserable parents.

So while we were trying to explain to the kids that there were more things to do and see a chicken started chasing us.  Fabulous!

When we finally got the chicken to stop chasing, we looked up to see two horses running wild.

They came to visit their friend...

After all of that fun, Jeff & I decided we should check out the rest of the grounds.  They moved things around a bit and had started brewing their own beer since we had been there last.  While doing that the kids complained some more....they still wanted to feed the animals.   Sigh...

Then Ian decided to complain we were not doing the hay ride thingy...I explained that things like that are not free and if he wanted to pay for each person to go @$5.00 each we would all go.  He then told me no way. 

While walking to see more animals...I asked the kids to sit so I could take photos and this is what I got....

They did end up a bit happier...Lily was dancing...

Then the kids were on their way over to see the other animals...

See that red fence?  Ian in his infinite wisdom decided to tell Lily she could ride the pony in that fence.  Can you say huge meltdown?!?!  That is when I could not take anymore and decided it was time to go.  We left with kids crying, throwing a fit.  Not exactly how I had envisioned my anniversary to go. 

With that said, my husband called his parents on the way home and asked them to take the kids while we went to the movies.  Needless to say the kids were happy and so was I.  We went and saw Eclipse.  The day was salvaged.

Labor Day Weekend

Hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day weekend! We are! Only one more day left!On Saturday we went to Evangola State Park to check out the Tomato Festival. We had never heard of it and thought we may just go check it out to see what it was about. The festival was pretty small, but the park was beautiful. I had never been (not that I can remember) there before and it had been a very long time since my husband had been there. It was a really nice park with a really long beach. We didn't hit the beach, but the kids had fun playing on the play ground that was in the sand. Ian, being as social as he is, had fun playing with the kids there. Lily HATES sand and it took her a bit to decide it would be ok to walk in it. She finally walked in it and had a fantastic time.

Jeff convinced Lily she should go down the slide...he carried her over to it and put her at the top. Ian tried to help her off the slide and show her the sand was ok and fun.

Lily finally decided to try and get off the slide on her own. Too funny to watch.

Lily had to show me she had sand on her hands.Ian loves sand and was having a fantastic time playing with the other kids.

On Sunday we went to Becker Farms. We have been here in the past and always have a great time. Ian & Lily had fun petting the animals and just walking around. It was all fun until Lily fell and smashed her nose on the concrete. We left shortly after that. We came home and had fun with the hose and a new kids sprayer that Ian gotten for his birthday. We had another milestone....Lily also HATES cold water. She usually sees water and runs the other way. Today she was having fun splashing in the puddles and playing in the spray of water.

Most of the time Lily wanted to play in the dirt and rocks.
