This is one of my favorites. Love all of his rolls and that chin! Sigh...he is taller than me now and need to shave his mustache.

Throwback Thursday - Fall Fun

November 2008

Time flies!  I can not believe the kids were this little when I started this blog.  Ian is 7 & Lily is almost 2 in these pictures. It's crazy Lily is now the age Ian was in these pictures.  That smiley little boy is now taller than me.

Flashback Friday - 2000

(December 2000)

This photo was from Christmas 2000.  That holiday was very special, we told my parent's I was pregnant and due in August with Ian.  :)

I purchased myself a new scanner the other day.  I was really excited when it arrived on Monday.  I played around scanning photos and scanning some negatives.  For the price I am pretty happy.  :)

Take Me Back Tuesday

Family faces are magic mirrors.  Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future.  ~Gail Lumet Buckley

While looking through some old photos on Saturday, I came across this one.
This is a photo of my father and his dad circa January 1953.  My dad is only about 1.5yrs old in this photo.  Ian looked JUST like him when he was little.  Sadly my grandfather passed away the year Ian was born.

Cleaning Cobwebs

Sunday we spent most of the day cleaning up one corner of our basement.  Our basement is partially finished and there is a desk down there that Jeff has been working at it for the last year.  Well since he has been training me over the last couple months he brought his computer upstairs.  I decided Sunday was a perfect day to clean his corner of the world.  The desk's contents really needed a good purge.  I had already threw out a bunch of old floppies after taking the info off of them before when we got rid of the last computer that could use them.

Going through the desk I found a bunch of old photos on CD's (when you used to get film developed you could opt to purchase a CD in addition to the prints).  I love unearthing things like that.

These 2 were taken 3 days after Lily was born.  (Dec. 17th, 2006)

These 2 were taken Christmas Eve 2006.  Ian is 5 1/2 and Lily is 10days old in these.

I also found many more photos that I can't wait to scan in.  :)

Sunday Citar - Birthday

"Presents don't really mean much to me. I don't want to sound mawkish, but - it was the realization that I have a great many people in my life who really love me, and who I really love."  ~ Gabriel Byrne

Today is my 39th Birthday.  As I look back and reflect, I thought this quote fit how I feel about birthday's perfectly.
(My sister, Aunt Peggy (my mom's Aunt) and myself)

As a child, just like my kids, I wondered what gifts I would receive for my birthday.
(me, my mom, my sister & my dad, circa my 7th birthday 1980)
As I got older, the ideas of birthdays and presents changed.  I grew up and learned that I should cherish memories more than objects.  I do not wish for anything but a nice day with my family on my birthday.  While I can not spend this special day with the rest of my family (in this photo) because they do not live near, I love them more than words.  This day is as much about them as it is about me.

Ok, so on a funny note....I just realized that my mom is younger in this photo (she is 27) than I was when I had Ian.

Happy Halloween circa 1985

This is me the last year I went trick or treating.  I was in 7th grade and 11 almost 12 (my birthday is 4 days after Halloween) in this picture.  After that I just went out with my friends and hung out on Halloween.
I was on the phone with my mom this morning and I was remembering when the last time I went trick or treating.  That's when I remembered this shot and had to go find the picture.  I can not believe that I am not that much older than Ian is now in this shot.

I went as a scarecrow.  My costume consisted of me painting my mom's old jeans, wearing my mom's shirt (my mom had embellished it many many years before) and my dad's hat.  I think I had some straw somewhere, too.  Look at that eyeshadow & feathered hair...wow!  My mom made that Halloween treat bag.  I still have it and we use it every year.

Do you remember the last time you went trick or treating as a child?

(My husband said he continued to go trick or treating well into his teens.)

Childhood Friendships & Facebook

When I opened up Facebook this morning I looked at the birthdays and smiled.   I wrote my happy birthday on her wall and immediately had to find this old photo and post it here.
{June 1981}

A little back-story...
When I was younger I lived in a town outside of Rochester called Chili Center.
We lived in an apartment complex.
The buildings we lived in were green.
We moved when I was in 3rd grade.

When you move you really didn't keep in touch unless your parents kept in touch.  There was no facebook to follow their journey and their kids grow up.  So friends you made fade away and you make new ones.

Fast forward to over a year ago on Facebook, I got a friend request and a message from a girl who said, "You probably do not remember me. We were friends when we were little. I have lots of old pictures with you and I and your sister Heidi. I think we lived in the same green apartments in Chili."

Facebook is wonderful for that!!  Reconnecting with long lost friends.

The little girl with me in the photo above is her.  Happy Birthday Lisa!  Hope you have a wonderful day!!

Sunday Citar - Mom

Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart.  ~Author Unknown
These photos are circa September 1983.   I am not quite 10 and my sister is not quite 7.  (Our birthday's are both in November.) Smurfs and rainbows!  LOVE it!

Love you mom!

Happy Mother's Day!

Flashback Friday

I was looking through some folders on my laptop and stumbled upon this old photo I took last night.
This was taken at the Thomas the Train ride we went to in 2006.  I remember it being a VERY chilly day and not feeling very well (I was pregnant with Lily).  Ian & I went with my friend and her 2 kids.  The kids had a great time.  (even though Ian was not really into Thomas...actually he pretty much hated that show)  I remember the train ride itself was overrated (the train ride was really boring & lame and the train smelled really musty...not good when you are pregnant), but the rest of the activities were pretty fun.  Ian was only 4 in this photo....where does the time go?

Flashback Friday

November 4th, 1997
My 24th Birthday
Tops Markets Inc.

The people I worked with ROCKED!  When I came to work on my birthday this is what they did to my cube.  It totally made my day.  They were so sweet and even had a cake for me.  It's wild to look back at these photos.  I was so young.

I had started this job of August of that year.  I was an Office Supervisor for the Demo Department at Tops Markets Inc. in their Corporate Office.  Tops Markets is a supermarket chain that is based out of Buffalo.  I basically billed vendors for the demonstrations (those ppl who hand you food to try at the stores) along with other duties.  After a couple years of working there Tops sold the department to another company, but I stayed with Tops doing the same thing but only I moved to the accounting department.  The last day I worked there was the day I gave birth to my son on July 18, 2001.  When I was pregnant the company had decided to move our accounting department to another location....I was to be 'laid off' the Friday after I had my son so I ended up laid off after maternity leave.  While I love being a SAHM, I do miss that job.

This weeks question is:
Have you ever been to Disney World?

In 3 weeks from today were are going for our 3rd time.  I am sooo excited and can't wait.  It's going to be the kids 1st time going.  We booked it right after the new year.....time has flown by and I can not believe in 3 weeks and a few hours we will be getting in our car and driving.  Yep, we are driving instead of flying...wish me luck.  =)

The first time we went was on our honeymoon in July of 1998.  We did not stay on property.  At the time I worked for a Comfort Suites and we got an employee rate ($25.00 per night) at a Choice Property.  Couldn't beat that.  We bought a hopper pass (back then hoppers were good forever).  We had a great time.  Magic Kingdom was our favorite.

We did character dining a couple times.  The first one was at the Crystal Palace.
