Polymer Clay Dog Tag Tutorial

I meant to write this tutorial last year, but got distracted.  Not a shock.  Oooohhh  look something shiny.  ;)

Items I used:
Square Cookie Cutter
Letter Stamps
Stamp Pad (I used black)
Polymer Clay in desired color.
First condition your clay (smoosh and warm it up) and then roll out your clay to the desired thickness.  I use my pasta machine to do this.  If you do not have one a brayer tool works great.
Then cut out a square with the cookie cutter.  I then cut the squares in 1/2.  You could also cut the rectangles by just cutting along a straight edge with an exacto knife.
I then rounded the edges a bit with my fingers.
And added a small hole to the one end.
Then I used my mini letter stamps and the black stamp pad to stamp sayings into the clay.
The sayings are endless.  :)
You can also add some embellishments.  Then bake them following the instructions on the polymer clay packaging.

I turned one into a necklace by adding a pearl accent and chain.
One of my customers (Little Bow Peep Boutique) uses them on her bows.
You could also add them to a photo frame with your favorite soldier's photo inside, key chain or scrapbook.

Wordful Wednesday - Pixie Fairies

I have been working on beads for jewelry I am making for Lily for our upcoming trip.  Lily requested these fairies. Only 12 more sleeps.  :D

(My shop is currently closed.  I will definitely be selling them when I return from our vacation.)

Rapunzel

Lily woke up and LOVED her.  She asked for a few more flowers in her hair and I was more than happy to add them.
Now I just need to string the necklace.  I am going to wait to do that because I have a few more special pieces to make for more outfits.  ;D

Wordful Wednesday - Inspiration

Tonight I was inspired to create a bead to match Lily's new Rapunzel Dress my mom made.
Before Lily went to bed she helped pick out colors and gave me a bit of direction...she told me she wanted a crystal on her.  :D
Hope when she wakes up she loves her as much as I do.  :D

Edited to add: You can see Rapunzel finished here.

Custom Creations

I have been approached to make custom pieces for customers. I love to make new things for people and am glad that people are thinking of me.
Melanie from SweetPicklesPottery asked me if I could make some clay topped sewing pins. I have seen these done before, but had never thought about doing them. She is going to give them to her child's teacher as a Christmas present in a pincushion she is going to make. Her child's teacher is a sewer. What a fantastic Christmas present. I am very pleased with how they turned out. I am in the process of varnishing them now.

Nicci from hullabalooboutique asked me if I could make beads to match this Alexander Henry Trick or Treat fabric. She was planning on making a dress for her daughter out of this fabric. She liked the little girl with the orange/red pointy hat.

These are the beads that I came up with.

You should check out hullabalobutique & sweetpicklespottery's shops. Their work is adorable! Click on the pictures below to see their shops.
