Smile
I was looking through my photos this morning trying to figure out what I should blog about and I realized I really need to post photos from our summer Disney trip. They truly make me smile.

Halloween 2012
We were glad that we could go out and trick or treat on Halloween. It was cold and rained most of the day. I guess I would rather have rain than snow. As usual in this part of the country, you have to choose your costume large enough so you can put many many layers under it. You never know what the weather is going to bring. ;)
Lily decided to be Frankie Stein from Monsters High and Ian was "Dr Derpinstein" (think cross between derpy (his new favorite word, google it) and Dr. Frankenstein). He changed his costume last minute and came up with this. It was actually kind of funny because they coordinated without trying and Ian realized that right before we all left.
While putting together this look, he wanted me to let him wear his headphones and I nixed that idea.
He thought he looked super cool. (Love the posing he did in these photos. Cracks me up. He wanted me to take them so he could upload them to his facebook page.)
We grabbed our umbrellas and did our annual tradition of trick or treating with friends. Ian decided again this year to go with his friend instead of with us.
And we went with our friends (we have been going with them since Ian was 3yrs old).
Everyone had a great time and now I have way too much candy in my house. ;)

Sunday Citar - Birthday
"Presents
don't really mean much to me. I don't want to sound mawkish, but - it
was the realization that I have a great many people in my life who
really love me, and who I really love."
~ Gabriel Byrne
Today is my 39th Birthday. As I look back and reflect, I thought this quote fit how I feel about birthday's perfectly.
As a child, just like my kids, I wondered what gifts I would receive for my birthday.

(My sister, Aunt Peggy (my mom's Aunt) and myself)

(me, my mom, my sister & my dad, circa my 7th birthday 1980)
As I got older, the ideas of birthdays and presents changed. I grew up and learned that I should cherish memories more than objects. I do not wish for anything but a nice day with my family on my birthday. While I can not spend this special day with the rest of my family (in this photo) because they do not live near, I love them more than words. This day is as much about them as it is about me.
Ok, so on a funny note....I just realized that my mom is younger in this photo (she is 27) than I was when I had Ian.
