Take Me Back Tuesday & Flashback Friday

April 1993
(I was 19yrs old)

In 1993 the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were all the rage.  So when I worked at Wendy's one of the Turtles paid a visit.

He posed with a couple of people I worked with.

Did you guess?....
The person in the costume was me!  Yes...kids came up and karate chopped me.
Yes, I dressed up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.  While working at Wendy's I also dressed up as Wendy and did birthday parties and Snow White for a weekend (when they re-released it into the theaters).  I wish I had pictures of me in the Snow White costume.

TURTLE POWER! I love it. I worked at Sears when I was a Sr in high school...and in college...and I was shanghaied into dressing up as Winnie the Pooh. The costume was HOT...the fake head was torture...but the good thing was I was allowed to leave work 2 hours early but get my full schedule's pay because I was drenched in sweat when the whole "visit with Pooh" was done.

YESS!

I was a huge turtle fan. Which was kind of weird, since I'm a girl? I think it was all the time I spent hanging out with my cousin, haha.

I loved TMNT!!! Ok, I still kinda do!

You were a good sport to dress up for all of that stuff! You probably brought a lot of smiles to a lot of little faces!

I love it! That is SO cool. I would have loved to dress like a character! I remember how huge those guys were! I was 16 then.

Oh you are so sweet.
And it is funny I saw this because like AlyGatr above I too did a stint as Winnie the Pooh. I was 16 and a woman I babysat for had sewn a big Winnie costume to wear to a party the year before.I had to wear a pillow in the front and one in the butt area. That year the families that I sat for got together and paid me to dress up and take the kids out.
I had a blast.

When my kids were little, we were going to the mall to trick or treat and I went to goodwill and bought navy pants and long sleeve shirt and a black belt. Because I had gotten a hat that looked like a cops hat at a yard sale. So I went to a toy store and got a set of handcuffs. And went as a "mall cop"
My friend I went with had sewn a Kermit costume for her son with a head you pulled on and it had ping pong balls for eyes. He got too hot so I wore his head and I was "Kermit the Cop".
One year I went to a halloween party for work and had on a whole clown costume and had to drive about 18 miles to the party. It was dusk when I left and I took the long way so I could drive through the city, I had a blast waving to people and watching kids go nuts in other cars when I stopped for red lights.

One of the best presents I ever gave to my daughter was a big box of dress ups I collected at thrift stores. She and her friends would stay busy for hours.

Thanks for the memories.
