Painted

I have been needing to repaint my porch for a while now.  I finally got off my butt and painted it last Sunday.  It looks so much better.

I even decided that it was time to paint my bedroom.  Insert happy dance here.  I painted that last Monday.  I have to admit, we moved into this house almost 8 years ago and we had not painted our bedroom yet.  O_o

PS - This is what our tiny house looked like when we moved in.

Spring Flowers

In the fall I finally remembered to plant new bulbs.  I had been meaning to do it for the last couple years.  I planted some bulbs when we moved into this house, but they do not produce many flowers anymore.  I picked hyacinths and ruffle tulips this time.  Loved the hyacinths.  They were so pretty.

I still love the little grape hyacinths.  I still get a few that come up. (I planted these when we moved into the house).
Lily took a mini bouquet of flowers to her teacher last week.  ;)

The tulips are really pretty, too.  Now if I just remember to get some pictures of those.  ;)

Wooden Letterpress Drawer

Since buying the new couch last year, the wall in the corner has been empty.  (There used to be a corner cabinet in the space prior to getting the new sectional.)  I finally figured out what I wanted to put over there recently.
I bought a Wooden Letterpress Drawer.  I looked in a couple local antique malls, but didn't find one, so ebay to the rescue.
Yesterday Jeff went to Home Depot to buy some hanging hardware for me.  (Which is huge....he isn't a fan of the old drawer being put on the wall.  But what makes me happy makes him happy.)
Loving the new space.  It needed some freshening up.
I collect polymer clay Rapunzels.  I haven't up until now had a place to put them.  (Now my daughter wants one for her room for her little nick-knacks)
Now just to keep it real.  My daughter had cleaned up the living room for me the day I decided to hang this (Thursday).  Not because I had planned on taking photos, just because she needed to put her stuff away.  So Friday morning this is what it looked like when I woke up and came downstairs....
My daughter has a stuffed animal issue....and yes that is an empty box of pop-ems on the coffee table.  ;)
And this is how she was watching cartoons after lunch on Friday...yep still in her nightgown hanging out with her friends. ;)

Love is all you need...

I shared my new print addition to my wall yesterday.  Wanna know how I made it?
I purchased the All you need is LOVE chalkboard picture as a jpg file is from Canvas Shoppe.  It is $5.00 and it comes with instructions on how to print it.
Now here is the tricky part.

I do NOT have a Staples here in Buffalo.

First tried to pay and have it printed by uploading it to office max & office dept and then go and pick it up.  FAIL.  Does not work, do not try it.  After finally uploading it to one, paying and then getting a call an hour later from my local store saying that they can not fulfill my order because they do not have a printer large enough...and then having to call another number to get a refund...total pain in the butt.
I decided to finally get off my butt and take a drive over to my local Fed Ex store (used to be kinkos) and talk to someone there.  I wish I would have done it earlier.  It would have saved me a lot of time and energy.  They not only could print it, they printed it while I waited and a 24" x 36" one was under $5.00ea.  I bought 2.  One for me and one for a present for my friend.  (They will tell you that it will be pixelated...it's ok)

I purchased the huge foam core board at Michaels.  I had to ask the framing ppl for a larger piece than they had on their sales floor.
I used spray adhesive to attach the poster to the foam board.  I sprayed the foam board outside and brought it inside to lay the poster on top.  (I was going to use a brayer tool to smooth out the bubbles, but found it leaves marks so I ended up just using my hands.)
I let the glue dry overnight.  I used an exacto knife and ruler to cut off all the white.
I gave one to my friend and then I made myself one.

I hung it to the wall using the command strips for picture hanging.

Linking to these parties, here.

Before & After....

See the picture up on the wall on the left?
It's above Lily in the picture below.
I got that picture many many years ago (I think it's from Home Interiors) and was feeling I needed a change....
I took it down, moved over the white frames and added this new print.  I am liking it much better.  :)

Jeff isn't sold, he hates change and doesn't really like anything on the walls.  Oh well, can't please everyone.   ;)

I purchased something last Sunday for the other side of  window, but it's not here yet.

Sharing tomorrow how I created this print.  :)

Christmas Tree 2012

With our new furniture and the fact we have a tiny house, we had to re-think where our Christmas tree would go this year. Usually it goes in the front window.  Jeff was skeptical that it would fit in the corner where I wanted to put it. Silly man, one day he will stop doubting my packing ability.
YAY!  It fit!  Lily was so excited to see the tree up when she came home from school. The kids put all of their ornaments on it and then Lily added a bunch of mine.

Oh and yes, your eyes are not deceiving you....I have a huge tuba case in my living room.  ;)
Then Lily & I added the snowflakes my mom made me.  She crocheted me 101 different snowflakes.  Lily wanted to add all of them and we did.

I just noticed my angel is a bit crooked...oops, I will have to fix her.  My mom made me my angel as a bridal shower present.  My mom is one talented crafty lady.
I usually put up my snowman houses and scene on my entertainment center, but decided against it this year.  I opted to add a couple winter pieces instead along with my winter terrarium.
I also always put up my mini tree.  (Mom, this is my new cabinet.)
I had a smaller cabinet there before and I was looking for something a bit taller and with lots of drawers (that didn't look like a filing cabinet).  When I saw this at Hobby Lobby I knew it was perfect.  I love love love all the drawers!!  I store Lily's hairbows in a couple drawers.  Better yet, Jeff stopped putting his 'junk' on top of my entertainment cabinet...he has his own drawer and he uses it!!
Ok, back to my tree....
My mini tree is full of mini Disney Hallmark ornaments I have collected over the years.  (I have not seen any new mini ones in a few years) along with a mini Disney train that I also bought at Hallmark eons ago.  (The angel on top is also an ornament my mother made.)
Have you put up your tree yet?

Random throughs from a Sick Person.

-I feel awful!  :(  I started getting sick a few days ago and this cold is kicking my butt.  :(

-I have lost 9lbs since the beginning of January.  My husband has lost 10lbs.  We are both back doing weight watchers again.  (Old points, not new because I already have all of the stuff and I know it works.  Just need to keep up with it.)

-I finally got my kids to clean up their junk toys in my living room so I could finally take photos of my new couch.  (I have plans to move around the photos on the walls...because there used to be a corner hutch in the left of the room and paint the coffee table...any color suggestions?)
-As soon as they cleaned up, Lily decided she had to dump out a container of stickers all over the floor.  *sigh*  (Yep, I also have a tuba in my living room...gotta love small homes.)
-I had a customer stop by and pick up her order today and had to have her come in to see my new couch because my old one is by the curb and looks terrible...bowing my head in shame.  I am a bit embarrassed about how bad my old couches look. (The fabric was spent.  Keep in mind they were 12 yrs old...not to mention 4 cats & 2 kids later...it was time to replace them.)  I am LOVING my new sectional!
- I had intended on taking a before photo of the old couches and how ragged they looked....but I must admit I never got around to it before I painted the woodwork a couple weeks ago.  I do have these photos of my living room I took 2 months after we moved in this house in 2005.  The room hasn't looked that in a LONG time...

-I am feeling a bit sad because I have been neglecting by blog....really need to change out the fall header...oops.

- Really should put out my Valentine's decorations today...but I am really thinking about skipping right over Valentine's and putting up St. Patrick's decorations (I only have like 2 things for St. Pats, not that I have much for Valentine's.).  I did make these pins for my terrarium last week.

-We took the kids to Toys R Us for their Friends Lego Build event to build a lemonade stand.  Lily embellished her's a bit when we got home.
-Off to go cuddle up on my new couch and watch a movie.
