Sunday Citar - Beauty

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. ~ Jawaharlal Nehru

First Day of School 2013

Yesterday was the kids first day of school.

Like every other year I took lots of photos.

When I say lots, I mean way too many.  ;)

I say this every year, but I can not get over how much bigger they are from last year.
Ian didn't want me to take photos of him holding the paper...but I told him he had to.  I am a meany like that.
Then Ian was off to the bus stop...but I made him take one more photo...with the paper.  :)
Well at least I thought he was off.  He was supposed to be picked up around 7:30 (1st period starts at 8am), but the bus never came until almost 8:15.  Jeff grabbed him around 8:00 from the bus stop and then drove him and his friend into school.  The Middle school buses were a mess yesterday.

Then it was Lily's turn.

Lily had to wait a bit longer to get on the bus.  She doesn't get picked up until almost 9:00.  When we went back out for her to leave...she was sooo ready for the bus to come.  Such a goofball.

And she was off.
The kids had a great day at school.

I was going to create this post yesterday, but I had an eye exam and this time they dilated my eyes....I couldn't see anything most of the time the kids were in school.

Wordful Wednesday - One more sleep.

Only 1 more sleep until my kids go back to school!  Doing happy dance.

***Don't get me wrong, I am sad that summer is ending & I love my kids, but I am happy for them to be going back to school.***

Typically we start school the day after Labor Day in our town.  This year they start tomorrow (Thursday).

Yesterday Ian & I went back to add more things to his locker.   I know my last post had a photo of his locker, but I had to take more with my better camera.  Yep, I made him stand next to it to take photos...I am embarrassing that way.  ;)

Today I am dropping off my daughter's supplies at her school.  Lily's 1st grade list wasn't that bad compared to Ian's 1st grade list (which had 23 glue sticks on it that year...seriously crazy).  These lists are really out of hand.  I never bought this many supplies when I was in college.  It's nuts.  I am still trying to figure out how he is supposed to bring home all these binders to do homework.  O_o

Only one more sleep.

For Mia

My niece's favorite animal are ocelots (they are in her favorite game, Minecraft).  When we first entered the rainforest, we couldn't find him.  Then right before we left we checked again and he was out.  Totally made her day!

Hope you like the pics sweetie!

Wordful Wednesday - The Polar Bears

Recently our zoo got 2 polar bears.  One named Luna & the other is Kali.

When we went to the zoo a couple weeks ago we were able to see the 2 cuties.

While watching them we saw the cutest thing ever.

One was sucking it's thumb.  :)

It would be really nice if we could keep our bears here in Buffalo

Moving Up

A week ago Wed (June 19th) was Ian's 6th grade Moving Up Ceremony.

First we listed to the orchestra play and then the chorus sing.  Ian was a bit upset and unfair that the 6th grade band didn't get to also play, but such as life.

After that they handed out some awards.  First Ian won an Art Award.
Then the band & orchestra teachers handed out their awards.  The band teacher handed out Band Student of the Year awards to one boy and one girl.  Ian won the award in band.  I can not get over that he is taller than her now.
Then they handed out folders with all of their achievements for the year.  Ian was first up.  (Gotta love the last name Adey.)  Ian received the Silver Award for Academic Achievement, Concert Band, All County, Cadet Band, Jazz Band, District Jazz Band and his Certificate of Completion.
We are so proud of you sweetie!
Then the picture taking commenced.  :)

Ian with his band teacher.  LOVE this woman.  She ROCKS.  Best yet, she is also going to be teaching over at the middle school next year, too.  She will probably not be Ian's instructor, but we will get to see her.  Super excited for her.
Jimmy (my nephew) came to the ceremony with us.  He is going into 8th next year.  They will both be in the same building again.  :)
I will be definitely sending these photos in when they are seniors for the slideshow.  :)
Boys are such goofballs.

Thank you Mrs. Homes & Ms. Wirth for a great year.  (Ian's regular teacher, Ms Homes, was pregnant and left at the end of October to have her baby and Ms. Worth took over after that.)  Here is a picture of Ms. Wirth.
WOW, I still can not believe how fast the last 7yrs have gone by.  I can still remember him going to Kindergarten.

This year is unusual in the West Seneca elementary schools because 5th grade is also moving up.  Next year our middle school will be a 6, 7 & 8 grade building.  (It used to be just a 7 & 8 building.)

Wordless Wednesday - Community Days

On Saturday both of my children marched in our West Seneca Community Days' Parade.  Last year Ian marched with the Cadet Band.  This year Ian marched with the West Seneca High School Marching Band and Lily marched with her softball team.

We dropped Ian off really early at the school.  They practice for a couple hours before they step off.  It was a warm steamy one here on Sat.  Thankfully there was a breeze.

First we saw Ian.
He is the one with the white tuba in the back left...
(the brass sousaphone is too heavy right now, so he is using a fiberglass one.)

And then they were gone.
Then we waited to to see the Cadet Band, but before they reached us their were a few pretty cool pipers.

Then the Cadet band.  Ian was a tiny bit sad he didn't march with them one more time and was worried about leaving his fellow tuba player to be all alone.
After they passed us, we decided to walk down the street and catch up with Lily.  I was a bit nervous because when Jeff dropped her off 15 minutes before the parade was going to start only a couple people were there.  Leaving my 6 year old in the midst of chaos just made me a wee bit uneasy.  Of course she was fine.  I was shocked there wasn't more kids.  Her team had the most show up, which was 5.
They both had a great time marching in the parade.
