Sunday Citar - Jazz
All music is beautiful. ~ Billy Strayhorn
On Friday night, Ian took part in the 19th West Seneca District Band Music Festival as the only Tuba player in the whole festival. He was also one of the only two 5th grade students that were asked to play with in the festival for his school. He got to play with the Trombonist, James Burton III.
We could not have been prouder. :D
Ian has decided he wants to join Cadet Band. Because Cadet Band is a marching band, Ian can not play his tuba. Instead he is playing a Sousaphone (it's just like a tuba, but wraps around your body). Last Thursday, Ian tried out the Sousaphone for the 1st time....it's huge! No mistaking where he is when looking at the group of kids, LOL. Thankfully we can leave it at the high school. I don't think I could figure out where to put a Tuba and a Sousaphone in this tiny house. O_o
So to keep score, this year Ian is in the regular band, regular jazz band, district band, district jazz band & cadet band. He is enjoying every minute of it & his teacher is awesome!! Keep up the good work sweetie! (And yes, I need to buy him new pants....he grew like a weed over the last few months. I did buy him new shoes, though.)

Dear So and So
Dear Snow,
Please go away until next winter. While I really appreciate the mild winter after dumping on us last year, I really am over winter.
Thanks a bunch, resident of Buffalo
Dear Jeff,
I wonder if we got married during the age of cell phones (yes I am showing my age here) would I still be listed under Melanie Warren in your cell phone? (and yes, you would have a cell phone...I know you hate them, but if we were younger you would own one.)
Love your wife, Melanie Adey ;P
Dear Ian,
I can't wait to go to your concert tonight. I couldn't be prouder that you are are playing in District Jazz band. I am glad you are doing so well and you enjoying playing the tuba.
LOVE you, mommy
Dear Mom,
Thank you so much doing so much for me! I had a great time last weekend and appreciate all that you did for me. You are sooo talented.
Forever Grateful & LOVE you lots!
Dear Dad,
Thank you for listing me talk your ear off about Disney. I am really looking forward to taking you guys with us next year. Definitely need to get some Crème Brûlée when we go.
Love you!
Dear Heidi,
I had a wonderful time last weekend. It was so much fun to have a girls day. We hadn't done that in sooo long. Moe's was very yummy and I definitely will take Ian there.
Your favorite sister. ;D
Dear Lily,
You do the cutest things. Taking the ballet shoe that is for your build a bear and using it as a "nightcap" on your little pink poodle was just adorable! Please never lose your imagination, it's priceless.
Still smiling, mommy
Dear Fat,
Mad now. I think you are throwing out my letters.
:(
Dear Amy,
Wow, this is 2 weeks in a row. Not going to jinx it and start numbering them again. o_O
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Dear Denny, Bill, Jamie & Jim,
Thank you for sitting for me to take pictures on Easter. Your grandparents really like the photos.
Love, Aunt Melanie
Dear Jamie,
What is that face you are making?!? o_O

Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts. ~Author Unknown

Dear So & So - week?
So I have not done this in a while. Ok, it's been FOREVER.
Dear Jeff,
Thank you for taking care of me when I was really sick. I know it was very difficult to do. I am glad you have a new appreciation for what I do on a daily basis.
Your ever loving wife.
Dear Ian,
It's crazy that you can remember crazy details about the books you read, but you can not remember to pick up your clothes and put them down the laundry shoot. I remember a time when you loved throwing things down the shoot....what happened? Putting clothes in the hall next to it doesn't count.
Love, your mom.
Dear Lily,
Please, please, please, please, please stop repeating yourself! Just because you didn't like my answer the first time does not mean if you ask me 30 more times you are going to get a different answer. Geesh!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, Your exhausted mommy.
Dear Fat,
Please melt off my body faster! Thank you very much for the warmth you have given me for the last few years, but summer is coming and I want to be thinner. While I am glad 14.5lbs of you have melted off already, I would like to see much more of you go bye bye.
Hope to never see you again, Thank you!
Dear Disney Store,
Why did you have to close ALL 3 of our stores in the Buffalo area? I wish you would have kept at least 1 open!?!? I miss taking my kids into your store and looking at everything. While I can still shop on-line, it's just not the same. The closest one now is 2.5hrs away in Syracuse. :(
Sincerely, saddened customer.
Dear kids,
Thank you for understanding that mommy was really sick last week during your Easter break. I am sorry it was boring. :(
Love, Your mommy.
Dear Jeff,
Thank you for the road trip on Friday. We all needed to get out of the house.
Love you, mel
Dear Amy,
I am sorry it took so long to write one of these posts. I am not sure why I ever stopped.
Hope I made your day. :)

Wordful Wednesday - Easter
I meant to post these last week, but last week was such a blur. I spent most of the week in bed. The Saturday before Easter I started to get sick. By Monday morning I was really really sick. Thankfully I am feeling better now.

Wordful Wednesday - Obsession
Now that we are counting down, let the outfit collecting and making commence. I did the same thing for our last trip to Disney.
My mom is making Lily a dress out of this pillowcase I bought. I can NOT wait to see it!! Thank you mom! :D
Actually I have been collecting clothes for our Disney trip for a few months now. I know I am crazy, but I like to be prepared. ^_^

Disney Vacation Countdown
My husband and I booked our next Disney vacation and I wanted to do something special to count down the days. Last year I had intended on making a paper chain, but never got around to it.
When I stumbled upon this idea made by Happy Clippings one day while looking at Pinterest, I knew these chalkboard mickey heads would be perfect.
To make mine I used...
white foam board (black would probably be better....but I bought mine for a dollar at the dollar store.)
Mod Podge
plates for the Mickey template
pencil
xacto knife
paint brush
chalk and black chalkboard paint.
After tracing the circles to make the heads, I cut them out with an xacto knife. Then I put on a couple coats of mod podge on both sides of the head. Using the Mod Podge helped with the head not curving. Then I followed the instructions on the can of chalkboard paint (I had some from another project) and painted it.
My kids love them! Not bad for a project that only cost me $1.00 for 2 of them! (I already had all of the other supplies on hand from other projects.)
