Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

I saw these here and as soon as I did, I knew I had to make them.  Which is strange for me because I am not really a baker.  I don't make lots of sweet treats very often because they do not get eaten.  Not because they don't taste good...my husband & I don't really eat many sugary treats.  I do LOVE eating raw cookie dough though.  My weight loss doesn't like it so I try and avoid doing so.

But these cupcakes looked and sounded so delicious.

I made the cookie dough the night before, made cookie dough balls and froze them.
Amanda's cookie dough recipe is DELICIOUS!  (she adapted it from Picky Palate)

For the cookie dough:
2 sticks softened butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup mini chocolate chips

To make the cookie dough, combine the butter and sugars in a mixing bowl and cream on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 2 mins. Beat in milk and vanilla until incorporated and smooth. Beat in the flour and salt until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Using a 1.5 tbsp scoop, shape the dough into balls or tubes. Freeze on a parchment lined baking sheet overnight.

I used a spoon to get about the same size balls because that is how I was shown growing up by my mama. I don't have those pretty scoops because...

1. I don't bake much.
2. My kitchen is small. Which means I have to find a home for the scoop in my kitchen and if it isn't something I use on a semi-regular basis, then it isn't worth finding it a home for the item.  I have LOVED purging things through the past few years.

Anyway...

I had a box cake mix on hand so I used that instead of doing it from scratch.  Not to mention I am lazy.
I divided the mix between 24 cupcake liners (remember I don't have those pretty scoops).  Place a frozen cookie dough ball on the top center of each cupcake.  Bake at 350 for 16-18 mins.  SUPER EASY!
I used canned Buttercream frosting.  I was going to make the Cookie Dough Buttercream frosting, but was afraid my husband would not eat one because it would be too much Cookie Dough for him.  I added the frosting to a plastic bag and cut the corner so I could pipe it on the cupcakes.
Lily added mini chocolate chips to the top.
They were delicious!
The kids LOVED them!
My husband liked them, too.  BUT, he said I should just bake the cupcakes and cookies separately because then we would have twice the goodies.  LOL.  (I did only make 12 cookie dough cupcakes and 12 plain, not knowing how he was going to like them)  I ate the rest of the frozen cookie dough that I didn't use in the cupcakes.  Shhh...don't tell anyone.  It was very DELICIOUS!
(and for those of you who are concerned about raw eggs...there are no eggs in that cookie dough recipe)

Have a great weekend!

Wordless Wednesday-Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me!

Yesterday I was busy making lots of things. I made the cupcake birthday candle holder above along with a couple custom orders. For one custom order a customer asked me to create a willow tree and carve initials in the base of the tree.
After I took this photo the sky got dark and it started to rain. It was way to dark for picture taking. Maybe later today.

My husband took today off and we are going Christmas shopping for the kids. We are dropping Lily off at my in-laws house first. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!

Shop Update...

I loved the square photo holder so much I decided to make a round one with spring color polka dots. This would be great as a baby shower favor, mother's day present or place card holder for your Easter Celebration. I just had to put this picture of my son in it. This picture we call his 'little dude' picture. Pssst...his face looks JUST like my dad's. And just because I know he is going to read this, HI DAD! =D
You can find this cake here. And from my last post (don't forget to enter to win one), my spring cupcake magnets. These cupcakes are smaller than my cupcake ornament. These little cupcakes have a magnet in the bottom so you can put them on your microwave or stove or.....this little cupcake stand....
The stand has a magnet on it so your cupcake doesn't slide off.

I made one of these pendants forever ago and I wear it all the time. I am not sure why I never made one for my etsy shop, but I finally did and here it is.

I was recently contacted by a fellow blogger, Amy, to make her some blue birds. She blogged about them here. And you should also check out her shop here. I will be adding more birds to my shop this weekend. Here are some pictures of them all, blue, turquoise and purple.

WOW, lots of updating.

Another Shop Update...

As promised here is another shop update.

I would like to thank every one's kind words regarding my photo/place card holder I made for my friends wedding. She LOVES them, too! I have decided to add them to my shop. I can make the ribbon any color you would like. I will do a quantity discount if you would like these as favors for your own wedding. Please contact me for pricing.

Yep, that is a picture from my wedding, 10 1/2 years ago.

I also made a cupcake with vanilla icing and a cherry on top. I guess the other night when I made the cake I had a sweet tooth. =P

There is glittery sugar all over the whole cupcake. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cupcake d'lights

I did it again. I found another amazing blog called Cupcake d'lights. Cupcake D'lights is situated in Durban South Africa. She does the most amazing things with cupcakes and fondant!! I am really impressed and can't get enough of her fabulous pictures of her yummy looking creations. So here are just a few of her creations. My daughter is obsessed with Cinderella at the moment. These are fantastic!

She also does cakes. What girl would not love this? I know I want one and I am 35. =D

While showing her blog to my husband, he LOVED these.

How gorgeous, right? Go on over to her blog and check out more.

Wow, Time Flies!

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted. Time has flown by! My sister and her family came to visit last weekend and we had so much fun. We decided to craft on Friday night. Hehehe...yes, we have now become old (not really). I can remember a time when we would go out to bars on a Friday night. We had a fabulous time though. She made a personalized bracelet that I helped string and I came up with my lollipop ornament and made more cupcakes. My husband laughed at us when he came home because we were too funny. What can I say, I come from a crafty family.
Since then, I have been busy creating for the Buffalo Indie Market I am participating in on Sunday. I have made a bunch of inventory and have made a couple new things. Making my personalized wedding ornaments. On a whim while making wedding ornaments I decided to make a 3 tier cake with ribbons. I had it up in my etsy shop for 2 days and sold 5! How fun! I can make these in pretty much any color you would like. They are only 1 inch tall and would make a great wedding favor. Keep tuned because I have some fun ideas for these little cakes...

If you are interested in purchasing anything you see here, you can find them in my etsy shop, here. If you are looking for something special please feel free to e-mail, convo or leave me a note on my blog.

Sweet & Yummy!

Who doesn't love cupcakes? Or at least the way they look? I do. I made this cupcake last night. It has glitter all over it so it is very sparkly. I know this is definitely something that is going to be in my lollishop. I couldn't wait to list it so I listed it on Etsy for now.
