Saturday Fun

I love to find fun things to do with my children, especially when they are free or a good bargain. I have found a wonderful thing to do with your children 3 times a month for FREE. The first Saturday of every month Home Depot holds a kids workshop from 9am-noon and twice a month on Saturdays, Lowe's also does a build & grow workshop from 10am-11am (next one is Nov. 8th). This week my son made a skeleton at Lowe's. This week you were supposed to make a pumpkin, but they ran out. I found out we should really sign him up for the Lowe's ones. At each one of these workshops they get the kit to make, an apron, and a certificate of completion. At home depot they give them a pin with a picture of what they made and at Lowe's they give them a patch. All of this is FREE. To find out more click on the links above.
We also carved our PUNKINS today.

Tada

I also want to share a fabulous recipe for Apple Dip. This is sooooo yummy and easy to make.

1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 pkg (8oz) cream cheese

1 bag of Heath Bar chips

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate. Serve with Apple Slices.

Hope you are having a fabulous fall weekend!

Custom Order

For the past few days I have been working on some custom orders.

These are wall hangings. A bit larger than I am used to working.

I made these beads for an order of childrens jewelry I am making.

These are fairies I made for a fellow FAM member, allieart4children.

My son has been asking me to make a boy version of these fairies and this is what I made him. The star will have his name on it and I am adding glitter to the star tips and to the hat. I am pleased with how my flying boy came out.

Remember to get your order in early, Christmas is only 2 months away.

Blog Love

I have been tagged by 3 different fabulous blogs. Thank you guys so much for enjoying my blog and thinking of me.

First The Copper Cauldron gave me the the Butterfly Award.

Second I was tagged by allieart4children & Cooplet. One was for 7 random things and one was for 6 random things.

Ok, so here are 7 random things about me:

1. I love going to concerts...lots of concerts. I saw Alice In Chains (with the new lead singer) when I was 7mths pregnant with my daughter on my birthday 2yrs ago. BTW...awesome concert!

2. I almost never wear makeup. Only wear it for pictures and weddings. =)

3. I love to wear what I call my uniform in the winter...velour sweats. My family laughs at me, but they are so comfy.

4. I have naturally wavy hair. Hated it growing up. I used to blow dry it straight every day. Now I love to put gel in it and go.

5. I am married to a man I would have never dated in high school. He was head of the nerd herd and I dated jerks. Yep, I finally got smart and realized there were nice guys out there.

6. I love to scrapbook and I am a Creative Memories snob. I love putting my pictures in albums and seeing my children's reactions to what I have done. Also, 100% of what I use to do this is Creative Memories. Love their products! I go to scrap and spa every year and look forward to it all year.

7. My 35th birthday this year is on Election Day. It has fallen on Election day in the past, but not such an important one as this. It's going to be a memorable one.

I know you're supposed to pass the award/tags on to other bloggers, but because there are just so many blogs that I enjoy...I'm breaking the rules.

The Great Pumpkin Farm

The Great Pumpkin Farm is so much fun! We went a couple weeks ago with some friends. This place is really cool for children. They have rides, a corn maze, haunted house, contests, crafts and so much more to do. Not to mention TONS of pumpkins and fantastic photo opts. Yep...my husband says all of our outings are photo ops.My friend participated in the toilet paper mummy contest. She had planned out what she wanted to do with the toilet paper last year...yes she already had known for a year what she wanted to do. It was hillarious to watch. She made her daughter a ballerina mummy and won first prize, $20 gift certificate to the great pumpkin farm shop.So what are you doing this fall weekend?

Apple Picking

When my sister and her family were here a couple weeks ago we went apple picking at Watt Farms. My husband and I have been taking our kids here for about 4 years now. We have so much fun every year. We usually go at the beginning of October because we want Empire apples. They are sooooo yummy. While we waited for the train we took in the beauty and had some fun.
My daughter decided that the PUNKINS (as she calls them) should not be in the bin. They needed to be freed and all over the sidewalk.
Playing in the hay...

Mia (my niece) & Ian on the train.

Our family...I absolutely love this picture. (A little background, she was terrible for the most part on the train...my fault though...we went durning nap time...not a smart move by me.)

On the way home we stopped and picked up some, as my daughter would say, PUNKINS.

Glitter Me

I LOVE GLITTER! So one day while browsing through etsy I stumbled upon this fantastic shop, glitterme. Her work ROCKS! I fell in love immediately with her work and had to send her an e-mail and let her know (yes I am one of those strange people). I just had to have a sign for my daughter, Lily, and shared her site with all of my friends and family. I told her the colors of my daughters room and sent her a picture of my daughter's rug. This is the lovely sign she made for me.I have to tell you her work is as beautiful in person as it looks in the pictures. She does custom work and has some signs like these in her shop.
You should really check out her shop and order something special for the holidays.

Seeing Stars

So the other day I received an e-mail from a local woman looking for Personalized Christmas Ornaments for everyone in a production her son is in. She said she found me through Google. How cool is that! She wanted the ornaments to have the production name, person's name and the year on them. After thinking about it for a minute I thought a star....because they are all stars....would be perfect. She loved the idea. These are what I came up with. She is picking them up tomorrow am. Hope she loves them as much as I do.

Do you think I should sell these in my etsy shop?

I also woke up this morning to being in 2 treasuries. Thank you so much my fellow FAM members, NewEnglandQuilter & boygirlboygirldesign for including me. Click on each picture to be brought to the treasury. Do it quick because they only last for a couple days.

Think Pink

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

So to help out this fabulous cause I have created pink ribbon ornaments. Each ornament measures about 2 inches long and has a layer of glitter on them for extra sparkle. These are now for sale in my etsy shop for $3.50. For the month of October I will be donating $1.00 for each ribbon sold to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. You can find these ornaments by clicking here.

Wow, Time Flies!

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted. Time has flown by! My sister and her family came to visit last weekend and we had so much fun. We decided to craft on Friday night. Hehehe...yes, we have now become old (not really). I can remember a time when we would go out to bars on a Friday night. We had a fabulous time though. She made a personalized bracelet that I helped string and I came up with my lollipop ornament and made more cupcakes. My husband laughed at us when he came home because we were too funny. What can I say, I come from a crafty family.
Since then, I have been busy creating for the Buffalo Indie Market I am participating in on Sunday. I have made a bunch of inventory and have made a couple new things. Making my personalized wedding ornaments. On a whim while making wedding ornaments I decided to make a 3 tier cake with ribbons. I had it up in my etsy shop for 2 days and sold 5! How fun! I can make these in pretty much any color you would like. They are only 1 inch tall and would make a great wedding favor. Keep tuned because I have some fun ideas for these little cakes...

If you are interested in purchasing anything you see here, you can find them in my etsy shop, here. If you are looking for something special please feel free to e-mail, convo or leave me a note on my blog.
